At The Inn
Enjoy a hearty three-course breakfast in the dining room with its mountain view. We try to accommodate special dietary requests. If you prefer, it's often possible to have breakfast served in your room or outside on the portico. When you arrive in summer, you'll be greeted with fresh lemonade and homemade cookies. In fall, it's likely to be cold cider with Vermont cheese and crackers. Winter guests are often warmed with mulled cider.

Our goal is to make the Governor's house a very comfortable place to be. Could be the down pillows and warm comforters or maybe the restful quiet of a small village, but guests often tell us they've never slept so well. While there is lots to do in the area, you'll also find the inn's large, quiet rooms very inviting. The well-stocked library is a good place for a comfortable game of chess or for settling in with a bottle of wine. The elegant parlor is the perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea.

The shaded portico looks out on the lawn toward the
Green Mountains and it's a great place to enjoy a cool summer drink. The cosy reading nook on the second floor offers a view of the Lamoille River Valley and the mountains beyond: a panorama of summer's lush green, winter's sparkling white, and the spectacular colors of Vermont's fall foliage.
While away a winter afternoon with a book in front of the fire or choose a Mozart CD to play as you soak in your big claw-foot tub. You'll find the ingredients for a luxurious bath in the little gift and antique shop at the top of the stairs. In summer, play croquet or watch the children roll old-fashioned hoops on the lawn. Choose a movie from our collection of over 650 to watch in your room while you're munching popcorn or Ben & Jerry's ice cream. On snowy nights, stay in and join us for hearty soup and homemade bread and then linger for an evening of games.

The Governor's House in Hyde Park is the perfect setting for family reunions, small private events, and intimate weddings.
If you want a special birthday cake, we'll bake you one.

Better yet, pamper yourself or plan the ultimate
surprise party with the Birthday Celebration package for one to twelve guests.
If you want to take along a picnic lunch, just ask the night before and it will be ready in the morning. You'll find a picnic basket in the shop if you forgot yours.

You'll find a basket of fresh fruit and a cookie jar of home-made Toll House cookies in the hall and, in case you have a late-night craving for some chocolate, a varietey of candy jars throughout the inn.
We have many books on Vermont hiking and other activities and we're happy to help you plan wonderful days. Our area activities page lists local attractions and our New England Driving Tours page lists the very best museums, historic sites, and culteral activities that New England has to offer. Our Vermont calendar of events lists local cultural, historic, and sporting events.

The backyard makes a pefect setting for almost anything.
